Laredo Medical Center to Unveil the 14th ‘Angel of Hope’ Painting
10/11/2023
LAREDO, TX (October 10, 2023) – Laredo Medical Center will unveil its 2023 ‘Angel of Hope’ painting during the 14th annual ceremony on Thursday, October 12, at 10 a.m. in the foyer of the hospital’s main entrance.
Linda LaMantia has been selected as this year’s featured artist. LaMantia is a civic leader and artist. She is very involved in supporting and promoting the arts and education. Linda, in conjunction with her family, provide scholarships to students seeking to obtain their dream of a higher education through STARS Scholarship Foundation, awarding $38.12 million since 2002.
LaMantia says her angel represents faith, hope and healing. Linda says she has been touched directly by cancer in her life having lost her father, mother-in-law and cousin to cancer and her husband and daughter both having had malignant tumors. She envisioned her angel looking down on those sick and offering them hope and peace.
In what has become a heart-felt tradition, each year Laredo Medical Center invites a local artist to paint their rendition of an ‘Angel of Hope’ to pay tribute to local men and women who are battling cancer, are survivors of cancer, or have lost their life to cancer. The painting is then signed by cancer survivors and hung in the A.R. Sanchez Cancer Center.
This year’s ‘Angel of Hope’ will hang alongside previous year’s renditions, which have been painted by Krystal Hinojosa, Anna Garcia, Cristina Zorilla Speer, Christina Castillon, Angie Moore, Sandra Esparza, Paty Orduna, Lizy Hinojosa, Dr. Anish G. Potty, Lily Michelle Saenz, Allan Gindic, Sylvia Castañeda and Hortencia Peña. The Cancer Center is located on the first floor of Tower A.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.
