Laredo Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Enrique Gallegos, FACHE, was recently recognized as the recipient of the Trinity University Health Care Administration Alumni Association’s (HCADAA) 2019 Momentum Award for excelling in the health care field.
The HCADAA bestowed the award to Gallegos during its annual awards dinner on October 3rd at the Pearl Stable in San Antonio, Texas where he graciously credited his mentor Don A. Beeler, retired President/CEO of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System for his early formation in healthcare leadership.
The Momentum Award was established in 2015 to recognize early careerists, age 40 and under, for outstanding achievement in the field of health care management.
Gallegos has been at the helm of Laredo Medical Center since September 2014.
Under Gallegos’ leadership, the hospital has demonstrated dynamic progress and growth. A few of his more notable accomplishments include: opening of two successful minor care clinics, enhanced the hospital’s neurosciences program, and the opening of the first dedicated Bone and Joint Center.
Gallegos was also instrumental in launching two residency programs in Family and Internal Medicine, making LMC the first hospital in the community to offer Graduate Medical Education, and currently under construction, a free-standing ER which is slated to open in the first quarter of next year.
Enrique has been involved in several community and professional activities during his career. He is board certified in healthcare management, having earned the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) credential. He is also an inaugural member of the Texas Hospital Association Leadership Fellows Program, outgoing chairman of the board for the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, and remains active through other community service appointments. He and his wife, Yammile, are the proud parents of three beautiful children: Adan Santiago, Leonel Emil and Lucia Ximena.
