Laredo Medical Center Appoints Marco Lozano Chief Operating Officer

Marco A. Lozano, FACHE, has been appointed chief operating officer of Laredo Medical Center. He joined LMC in 2021 as an assistant administrator and was promoted in 2022 to assistant chief executive officer.
During his tenure at LMC, Lozano has served as the lead project executive for multiple strategic imperatives, including the re-establishment of the hospital’s open heart program, opening of four new primary care clinics, renovation of the cath lab and the opening of a cardiac rehabilitation program.
Lozano also has administrative oversight of LMC’s cardiac and respiratory therapy department, radiology department, nutrition, AASM-accredited sleep center, pastoral services, laboratory department, practice management, physician recruitment and leads patient satisfaction initiatives.

Prior to Laredo, Lozano started his healthcare career in the public health arena in 2015 as the regional hospital preparedness director for Texas Trauma Service Area-V and later promoted to assistant public health administrator for Cameron County, Texas.
In 2017, Lozano was recognized by the Kresge Foundation as an “Emerging Leader in Public Health” for his local collaboration, advocacy, and legislative initiatives addressing border health issues. In 2018, he joined the South Texas Health System as the director of outpatient clinics in the Rio Grande Valley. At STHS, Lozano managed the advancement of residency education programs and provided administrative oversight for the direction of the program.
A native of Elsa, Texas, Lozano received his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management from the University of Texas at Tyler. He recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. He is currently a board member of the United Way of Laredo. Marco is married to Ashley N. Lozano, PA-C, and they have two children, Sophia Feliz and Lucas Antonio.
