Laredo Medical Center affiliate, Primary Care Associates of Laredo, continues to grow its primary care team
LAREDO, Texas, JULY 26, 2024 – Primary care for Laredo and surrounding communities has evolved significantly in the last couple of years to meet the healthcare needs of families for prevention, wellness and treatment of common illnesses. Laredo Medical Center affiliate, Primary Care Associates of Laredo, has achieved notable growth in its team of family medicine providers and continues to increase access to care with a remote monitoring and virtual support program for patients with chronic conditions, including hypertension, heart failure and type 2 diabetes.
“Having a long-term relationship with a primary care provider keeps you healthier and lowers medical costs,” says Jorge Leal, FACHE, CEO of Laredo Medical Center. “Going from one family medicine provider to eight providers in five years is a major win for Laredoans and surrounding communities — and we look forward to welcoming two more physicians to our team this summer. Furthermore, we are broadening people’s options for primary care with a valuable monitoring program, as we continue to explore ways to enhance access to care for our community.”

Care Monitoring Program
Last year, Primary Care Associates of Laredo launched a new remote monitoring and virtual care support program for patients managing certain chronic health conditions.
Qualified patients are given cellular-enabled devices, such as blood pressure monitors, weight scales, or glucometers to capture daily vital information from the comfort of home. Daily readings are then transferred to clinicians who can help monitor for changes in a patient’s condition and provide virtual care support when needed.
“We are committed to delivering more ways to help people in our community get well and live healthier,” says Leal. “Remote patient monitoring is an innovative and convenient way for patients to monitor changes to their health and can provide peace of mind for patients who have serious health concerns.”
